 Defense  Display Technology  Warning Systems

For effective protection against guided missiles, the Warning Systems division of LINOS develops and manufactures customised optical solutions for a variety of different platforms.

This includes both systems to detect the engine signature, so-called Solar Blind UV systems, and systems for the infrared wavelength range. Possible applications of these systems range from flying platforms (helicopters, cargo aircraft and fighter aircraft) to armoured vehicles and stationary objects.

Essential characteristics of these systems include:

  • Large field of view (115°)
  • High transmission rate in the wavelength range to be detected
  • High level of blocking in the visible and short infrared range for UV systems by specially designed Solar Blind filter combinations
  • Meets the high standards related to environmental requirements for military applications (temperature range, vibration, thermal shock, salt fog etc.)
  • High MTBF (>9000 flying hours)
  • Compact construction
  • Easy to integrate with different platforms

The systems developed and manufactured by LINOS include the optical systems for MILDS AN/AAR-60  to protect against helicopters and aircraft as well as the enhanced MILDS-F system for use in fighter aircraft and the optics for the MUSS Multifunctional Self-Protection System.

LINOS has many years of experience in this field, ranging from the optical and mechanical system design and the development of special filter layers to the manufacturing and assembly of highly complex systems. Special self-developed assembly technologies and testing systems are used for these processes.
