In addition to numerous improvements and additions, such as the implementation of prisms and mirrors for simulating folded optical systems (see optolines Issue 20), WinLens 3D has a new utility, called "Prepare Quotation Request." This tool lets you prepare itemized lists based on previously simulated optical systems.

With the new "Prepare Quotation Request" function in WinLens 3D, you can generate itemized lists of the components in your simulated optical system at the press of a key. This feature exports the required parameters, such as types of glass, radii, angles and outer dimensions or, for standard catalog components, the LINOS order number, and writes them in a text file. The interface has a dedicated function for e-mailing the list directly to LINOS, or you can print the text file and fax it. This makes it easier than ever to request a quotation or place an order, whether for standard or specialized optics. As shown below in Figure 3, an input field is available for entering other information, such as optical and mechanical tolerances.
